Why do people like each other and become friends?

We figure out that the other person is like us in some way and usually in many ways. When we're young the similarities are fairly simple. We like the same kinds of sports, music, or maybe even cars. As we get older we add beliefs and personality traits and maybe even political affiliations.

But do we ever really forget about that first game that made us a fan or the first song from a band that became one of our favorite bands?

When one of those bands is RUSH, I think the answer is NO WAY! I've loved Rush for 31 of my 42 years on this earth, and over the years I've noticed that when I run into people who like RUSH as much as I do a friendship develops easily. My best friends in High School, College, and even those I spend the most time with in my  neighborhood all love RUSH. We still go to concerts together and even fly to other cities to see shows and have seen the local RUSH tribute band many times over the last three years.

I find similar kinship with other great bands of that era as well. Bands like Pink Floyd, Yes, The Doors, and moving forward to the 80's with bands like Van Halen and AC/DC.

This friendship is not just based on music though. I find fans who share a love of bands from this era (especially RUSH) are detail oriented, socially conscious individuals who have a drive to excel at whatever they do - just like Geddy, Alex, & Neil.

You may be thinking where's he going with this? What do RUSH and real estate have to do with each other? The simple answer is: nothing.
